Amirali is a doctoral candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The objective of his research is to create experimental methods for replicating the behavior of building structures in laboratory settings. Investigating earthquake performance of structures in labs allows the civil engineering community to design and develop infrastructure that is more efficient and resilient to the threat posed by large earthquakes.
Teaching is his next passion! Amirali makes lecture series on structural engineering topics that are available on YouTube. The topics covered are comprised of ten short (20-30 mins) lectures. The lessons are intended to be short and fun. Learning should always be a gratifying experience after all!
Amirali takes a few weeks off every year to go on big adventures. Camping in the wilderness and climbing big mountains are both very close to his heart. I have devoted a whole section to my adventure photography!
